Sponsor A Shelf

Here at the Franklin Food Pantry, we are always looking for innovative ways to keep our shelves well-stocked for our neighbors who are facing hard times. The Franklin Food Pantry currently serves more than 580 households primarily in Franklin, distributing more than 150,000 pounds of food and provisions annually.

Clients receive monthly staples; weekly produce, bread, and dairy; and special seasonal items of holiday meal packages and school supplies. Community outreach includes assistance with application for other resources (fuel or SNAP), food delivered to the local senior center, nutritional education, and hunger awareness.

The need for services is rapidly increasing. Linda Sottile, Director of Operations, reports that in the last year the number of clients has increased by 40% and the number of pounds of provisions distributed has increased by 30%.

As you know, all households inevitably find themselves short on those everyday items that we all use, such as toilet paper, sugar, shampoo, jelly and coffee. The Food Pantry is no different. It is for those types of items that we find we have great demand all the time.

With this in mind, we have developed our Sponsor A Shelf initiative, a new way for the community  to get involved. As part of this program, businesses and civic organizations are asked to commit to sponsoring a shelf at the Pantry for a particular item. Sponsors can commit for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc. A sign will be prominently displayed on the shelf for the duration of your sponsorship so our clients will recognize who our sponsors are. The name of your business/organization will also be displayed on our web page as a partner to the Franklin Food Pantry.
