Last week to buy raffle tickets for community mural

Do you remember this from July?
This mural, created by the Franklin community at last year's Harvest Festival, has been donated to the Franklin Food Pantry. It is being exhibited at different locations around town this summer, and right now, it's at Pour Richard's!
Stop in to view the mural, and while you're here, please consider purchasing a raffle ticket. The winning ticket will be drawn at this fall's Harvest Festival, and the winner can decide to take the mural home or donate it to an appropriate public space: Town Hall, a school, the library, etc.
Many thanks to Jane Curran of Jane's Frames for initiating this great project!

The mural has moved, been framed and is at Jane's Frames until the drawing is held about 3:30 PM on the triangle during the Harvest Festival, Sunday Oct 5th.

You can visit Jane's Frames to purchase a raffle ticket (or two). Tickets are $5 each.

Can’t pay your phone bill? Stay connected with telephone assistance

If money is tight and which bill to pay becomes a decision, there is help with the phone bill. The MA Consumer Affairs blog has a recent post with information about what help is available.

Access to local emergency services and community resources is vital to our low-income and elderly residents. The Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Cable (DTC) wants residents to “stay connected” and is reaching out to those who need phone service but can’t afford it. During “Lifeline Awareness Week,” September 9-15, the DTC is promoting the Lifeline Assistance Program which offers discounts to help residents have access to basic local telephone service. Lifeline helps low income consumers connect to the nation’s communications networks, find jobs, access health care services, connect with family, and call for help in an emergency.

How to avoid food contamination

In honor of September being National Food Safety Education Month, Massachusetts helps residents lower the risks of foodborne illness by promoting proper food preparation and storage tips.
